I found something interesting in colloquium civil ed. class on the previous week. This came up from my friend’s group. They brought out ‘Sosialisasi Pancasila sebagai Ideologi Negara pada Generasi Muda’ or in English: ‘Pancasila socialization as a national ideology on Youth’. As the colloquium going I kept discussing about this matter with my friend, Rizka, (she wants me to mention her wkwk)
(that’s me wearing pink hijab and rizka wore the purple one)
I never really think this matter could be that astonishing, since we had been studied it from we were in junior high school and…. lets be true to yourself guys… we fall asleep in class and… for me, personally, I’d rather study physics, math, chemistry than civil education.
Something is really wrong with this subject. Every exam, what I did was just ‘ngapal mati’ from the book and then a little ‘ngegombal’ in exam paper. It worked anyway! I always ended up getting a good score.
In previous colloquium, the presenter said that to increase the youth’s patriotism to local product, there should be more civil education on school or mass media or everywhere. Hmm… if we just stop for a minute and think… how many years we spent studying PKN (civil ed.)? What we got?
Our nationalism, patriotism, chauvinism feeling (if you have it), where those come from? From PKN? No! I’m not trying to judge but I think those feeling came up only when se saw Taufik Hidayat playing bulu tangkis, Timnas Indonesia VS Malaysia. When Malaysia stole our batik, reog, angklung, island, we were exclaiming out loud like crazy, but when there was no such a threat we were indifferent. We can conclude that’s not a right feeling. Malaysian and Indonesia have the same ancestor. We are brother and sister. Every muslim (if u are) are brother and sister. So, don’t let anyone make indo-malay like irak-iran. Civil war. How uncool!
Okay, back to the main topic. The thing that really made me wonderstruck today was: from their paper, I read:
Mengutip survey yang dilakukan aktivis gerakan nasionalis pada 2006, sebanyak 80% mahasiswa memilih syariah sebagai pandangan hidup berbangsa dan bernegara. Sebanyak 15,5% respoden memilih aliran sosialisme dengan berbagai varian sebagai acauan hidup. Dan hanya 4,5% saja yang masih memandang Pancasila sebagai pandangan hidup dalam berbangsa dan bernegara.
Translate: Survey taken from Nationalist activist on 2006, 80% university student choose Islamic Sharia as a life prespective in governmental activity, 15,5% choose socialism with various life reference. And only 4,5% respondent who still consider Pancasila as a life prespactive in governmental activity.
Well, first of all, I would like to see it objectively. University student, like all of us know, is an agent of change, young intellectual open minded, think penetrate like they can see through the future. They are also very critical. No wonder why they are no more choosing Pancasila as national ideology. They saw, they examine, they observe: 66 years since Indonesia was independent, get the sovereign power, with Pancasila… are we truly independent? We are a rich country but most of our natural resources are possessed by foreign private company. Our people are poor. Like a mice in rice shed. That’s the proof how Pancasila couldn’t even make us survive.
Now, subjectively, if I were one of the respondents I could distinctly say I choose Islamic sharia. Why? Because, first, of course my religion is islam. In al-quran we are urged to move into islam completely. What does that mean? Islam is a comprehensive religion. Islam is not only about sholat, zakat, fasting, hajj, marriage etc. Islam regulate all of our activity like how to interact with friends, the older, opposite sex, and even islam regulate political activity because some regulation in islam could not be managed if it is not deal in government level.
The question from my friend (Rizka): Indonesia is a multi religion country. There are Christian, Buddhist, Hind, etc. They are citizen too. So, how sharia could fit them?
Very true. Indonesians are so various. When Islamic sharia was established in the form of khilafah islamiyah centuries ago, the people are various too. Christian, Buddhist, Hind, Jews, communist, etc lived happily under chilaphate system. They were free to accomplish their faith, do their worship to their God, they are even prosperous with Islamic economic system, and feel save with Islamic law. Islam is for all. And CMIIW (correct me if I’m wrong), islam is the only religion that is also an ideology that very comprehensive.
Talking about the Pancasila itself, everyone think it’s a perfect ideology, isn’t it? I agree about that. There is nothing wrong with every word and every sila in Pancasila. But too bad, it’s inadequate and restricted as only a philosophy.
We know Pancasila is our nation’s ideology but what about or economic system?
Do we use Pancasila as our economic system?
No! We use capitalism or nowadays it’s also known as neo-liberalism.
Do we use Pancasila as our social system?
No! We (hmm… I’m not included actually, the people in general) use liberalism ‘the power of individualism freedom’.
That’s why Pancasila, how perfect it is, could never save Indonesia, the people need something revolutionary. All of us already fatigued with the system nowadays. So, why should we keep something that handcuffs us?
You may say: Pancasila is a must value ‘harga mati’. Remember that Pancasila is human-made and human can sometime make a wrong.
I get so many people say, why Indonesia hardly progress and advanced is not because of Pancasila ideology. Pancasila is not wrong, the people are. Indonesians never internalize, perceive, and accomplish Pancasila.
My question is, How could those 274-million-people-times-the rate-of-mortality-times-66 years-since-1945-in-Indonesia, kept making the same mistake? The only reason that I can consider is the Pancasila itself is something that hardly internalized, perceived, and accomplished because it is inapplicable.
That’s a glimpse of my idea, if you agree Alhamdulillah, if you disagree, feel free to comment. Thank you.
